SNOWMASS
MIDNIGHT SUN
Breeding Fee $3000.00
($2500 for clients)
This
young male is outstanding and it's not just because of his pedigree
(click certificate icon above). Sunny is fawn recessive black (dad is
THE Snowmass Midnight Magic). Muzzle and toes are black, gums are grey.
This is what we are looking for to bump our black dams to the next
level.
His excellence in conformation, proportions, balance and movement make
him a standout in the pasture. And, let's talk about that head!
His fiber is incredible with very fine well defined high luster bundles
carrying up to his top knot.
Sunny has been tested by the GIFT Program (2009)
in Australia with the following results:
AFD:19.2 microns
SD: 3.6 microns
CVD: 18.7%
Comfort Factor: 99.1%
Length: 100mm
Curvature: 45.2dg/mm
SD 'Along Fibres': 0.47 micron
SD 'Across Fibres': 4.24 microns
"THe 'across sample' SD is 4.24 microns. This is well below the
average for alpacas which is about 5.5 microns. This alpaca is highly
suitable for breeding towards reducing incidence of variation between
fibres and reducing the incidence of coarse fibres.
The average fibre diameter puts him in the 'Superfine' grade. Given the
likely age, this alpaca is considered highly suitable for breeding
towards low micron fibre diameter.
The Micron Profile indicates a stable level in nutritional intake by
fibre follicles. This is reflected in the very low 'along fibre' SD
which is about half the average for alpacas of this age.
Of further note is the even distribution of variation in fibre diameter
as identified in the histogram (spread is relatively symmetrical). This
indicates a very low percentage of coarse fibres relative to the mean.
This trait is reported as moderately to highly heritable and is
correlated with processing performance and handle.
This alpaca is highly recommended for breeding progeny for premium* type
fleece.
